BidMyCleaning is a startup celebrating their one-year anniversary this month. The service is basically a marketplace which brings together those seeking cleaning services and those providing cleaning services.
BidMyCleaning reminds me of two of my favorite web services - eMove and ZocDoc. Back in the days when I had money, I had a cleaning person come about once a month. It took several trials before I found a person/team that did a good job.
The service is simple to use - you enter your location and what type of cleaning you are seeking (move in, regular, heavy, etc.). From there you are presented with a list of cleaners and their bids (see example below). You can see reviews and ratings for each cleaning service. From there you select a time using their very slick calendar app. Then you pay using Paypal/credit card and the appointment is confirmed.

We think that Bidmycleanings genius approach to maid service management provides both customers and service providers with a much needed and valuable resource. Bidmycleaning hopes their site can be your dirty digs best friend by making the search for house cleaning services, whether you need a one-time deep clean or a weekly refresher, as fast and rewarding as possible. The best part is that you get multiple bids to select from and you can even opt to have your home tidied up with eco-friendly products.
To get your quote, just enter your zip code, specify the type of cleaning youre looking for, and let the maid service calculator do the rest of the work. Not sure what each service entails? Thats okay, Bidmycleaning has plenty of instructive text to help you decide whether you need a normal or deep clean, and includes clear descriptions of what you can expect from the available options.

The companys website allows homeowners to receive multiple competitive bids for house cleaning, window and carpet cleaning services, schedule appointments, and pay for their service online without talking to a single service provider. And while Bidmycleaning.com offers a practical solution for anyone looking for a little extra help around the house, their business model is equally useful in showing small business owners how to keep tech costs low and maximize profits.
Startup Houston
New startup BidMyCleaning.com launched this week in Houston and San Diego. The company founder and CEO, Raymond Aker, moved to Houston from San Diego in 2005 to open and manage the local office of AW Cleaning Services. According to company materials, the founding team’s goal in founding BidMyCleaning was
"to remove the pain involved in finding cleaning services for the customer and to allow providers to do what they do best instead of spending their time on logistical issues and marketing efforts.
The site is touted as a "one-stop-shop" for all of your cleaning services needs where you can bid, screen, select, schedule, rate and even pay for those services online. Along with a nice dashboard, there is a Cleaning Calculator which records all of the details of your home or office and then provides specific quotes back to you on your job requests.
One thing that stood out was their resources section that provided information about green cleaning. I could not determine if there were any service providers listed that offered "green cleaning" but if there was, that would be an interesting competitive advantage.
